FAQ’s
Which class(es) should I choose?
When a dancer is first starting, the type of class they attend is not as important as their sense of enjoyment and accomplishment. Dancers can excel after beginning in ballet, tap, hip hop, or jazz. As students become more serious about dance, attending ballet classes becomes a fundamental part of their advancement. Ballet provides crucial theories of body placement and posture, balance, coordination, and flexibility.
For classes labeled “by placement” speak to the artistic director, Sandy Morgan, or an instructor to determine the correct class placement. Factors such as age, experience, ability level, future goals, and outside commitments determine class placements. DDC takes a conservative yet flexible approach to placement to ensure students are challenged but not overwhelmed.
What should I do if I have to miss a class?
It is essential that you or your parent call or email the studio to let your instructor know you are unable to attend. Speak to your instructor or the artistic director to schedule an appropriate make-up class.
How many classes a week should I (or my child) attend?
For young dancers (ages 3-6) one class a week is often enough. However, every parent knows their child’s attention span and energy level best and may feel they will do well in enrolling in two classes per week.
Dancers ages 7-9 who wish to pursue dance and performance should attend two to four classes per week (including ballet). While dancers ages 10+ should attend a minimum of three classes per week (including ballet).
Dancers of all levels of interest are welcome to attend the number of classes that works best for them.
How does DDC bill me for classes?
DDC bills monthly dance class tuition on or about the 1st of each month. If your dancers does not start class at the beginning of the month your 1st month will be pro-rated.
